Wood packaging according to ISPM 15

What does the ISPM 15 standard mean?
Stichting Markering Houten Verpakkingen (SMHV, Foundation implementing the Dutch Wood Marking Program) has been founded in 2003 by the Dutch government. SMHV implements the wood marking program in the Netherlands in compliance with the International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures for regulating Wood Packaging Material in International Trade (ISPM 15).

ISPM 15 has been developed by the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC), being part of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.

How do you recognize wood packaging with a proper ISPM mark?
The certified wood is marked with the ISPM-logo, country of origin, the registration code of the certified company and a short code for the kind of treatment that was applied to the wood. (see image below). You can check the company’s registration code thought the SMVH website.

Exception for non-fixed wooden parts
We cannot guarantee an ISPM 15 standard for loose wooden parts that come with your order. We have to make this exception because the chance of swapping timber during storage or transfer is considerably large.

Please do check the Stichting Markering Houten Verpakkingen website for more information on ISPM 15: SMVH.
